Editorial Guidelines & Standards
Statutory Trust & Computational Transparency
MyUtilityTools New Zealand adheres to an uncompromising editorial and computational policy: we do not publish subjective financial opinions, affiliate sponsored loan comparisons, or speculative forecasts. Every tool, explanatory blueprint, and reference table on this platform must reflect verified primary legal statutes enacted by the New Zealand Parliament, formal determinations from Inland Revenue (Te Tari Taake), and regulatory standards from the Reserve Bank of New Zealand.
The 5-Step Mathematical & Statutory Verification Protocol
1. Primary Statutory Source Extraction
Formulas are drawn exclusively from primary New Zealand legislation (e.g. Income Tax Act 2007, Goods and Services Tax Act 1985, KiwiSaver Act 2006, Child Support Act 1991) and official determinations published on legislation.govt.nz or ird.govt.nz. Secondary blogs and third-party summaries are never accepted as authoring sources.
2. Algorithmic Formulation & IEEE 754 Boundary Testing
Mathematical equations are encoded into deterministic JavaScript functions using integer-cent scaling to prevent floating-point binary drift. Extreme values (minimum wage thresholds, zero values, top marginal thresholds exceeding $180,000) are rigorously tested.
3. Automated Cross-Verification Against Official Tables
Tool outputs are benchmarked against official Inland Revenue PAYE deduction tables (IR340) and verified public test vectors. Any variance exceeding ±0.01 cent triggers an immediate code review.
4. Accessibility & Ergonomics Peer Review
UI surfaces undergo automated accessibility audits (axe-core, Lighthouse) and manual keyboard traversal testing to ensure full compliance with WCAG 2.1 AAA contrast and screen reader standards.
5. Annual Statutory Audit & Continuous Maintenance
All computational models are re-audited annually prior to each New Zealand tax year (commencing 1 April) or immediately upon royal assent of legislative amendments. Updates are transparently logged in our Release Log.
Independent Scientific & Mathematical Objectivity
Our tools are completely independent of commercial banking and financial lending institutions. While our mortgage tools provide presets for major New Zealand trading banks (ANZ, ASB, BNZ, Westpac), these presets exist purely for objective calculation convenience. We do not receive referral fees, lead commissions, or commercial remuneration of any kind.
