MyUtilityTools New Zealand is engineered from the ground up to ensure every citizen, regardless of physical ability, neurodivergence, or assistive browsing technology, enjoys equal, barrier-free access to statutory and mathematical utilities. In alignment with the New Zealand Government Web Accessibility Standard and the international Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, our engineering team targets Level AAA compliance across all critical UI surfaces.
Accessibility is not an afterthought or retrofitted widget; it is embedded directly in our semantic HTML5 document tree, high-contrast color token variables, and keyboard-first event dispatch loops.

High Contrast & Color Geometry
Text elements maintain contrast ratios exceeding 7.0:1 against backgrounds in both Light Mode (Tasman Pounamu) and Dark Mode (Southern Alps Slate). Form controls and interactive focus rings maintain at least 4.5:1 contrast against adjacent surfaces.
ARIA Live Regions & Dynamic Output
Interactive calculation result containers utilize role="region" aria-live="polite". As parameters are entered or sliders adjusted, screen readers receive non-intrusive auditory feedback without disorienting page redraws.
Complete Keyboard Traversal
Every input, button, theme toggle, and accordion can be navigated exclusively using the Tab, Shift+Tab, Enter, and Space keys. Logical visual focus outlines are enforced with generous hit targets of at least 44 × 44 CSS pixels.
Reduced Motion & Typography
Our stylesheets respect prefers-reduced-motion operating system flags, disabling animated transitions. Body typography is set to a readable 17px with 1.75 line-height and generous paragraph spacing.
